The role:
The role is responsible for directing the maintenance programme for the operation to ensure effective maintenance management and continuous improvement in a safe and sustainable manner through planning and execution.
The duties will include but are not limited to:
- Maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
- Optimise planned maintenance schedules of machinery and equipment ensuring that equipment is effectively maintained
- Research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety, and people management
- Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
- Financial Budgeting & Management
- Participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects
You will need:
- Degree / National Diploma / National Certificate N4 in Electrical / Mechanical
- Recognised relevant Trade Test Certificate
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as appointed 2.9.2 Engineering Foreman
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals and Energy Act, Basic Conditions of Employment and Environmental Legislation
- In depth knowledge of safety systems and standards
- An in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards (SABS)
- A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining Industry
- Aware of best practices and new technologies relating to Engineering Principles and Processes
- Computer literacy: MS Office and SAP
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a certificate of fitness
Advantageous:
- A Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Mines & Works)
- Proficiency in Sage & Isometrix
