The role:

The role is responsible for directing the maintenance programme for the operation to ensure effective maintenance management and continuous improvement in a safe and sustainable manner through planning and execution.

The duties will include but are not limited to:

• Maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
• Optimise planned maintenance schedules of machinery and equipment ensuring that equipment is effectively maintained
• Research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety, and people management
• Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
• Financial Budgeting & Management
• Participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects

You will need:

• Degree / National Diploma / National Certificate N4 in Electrical / Mechanical
• Recognised relevant Trade Test Certificate
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as appointed 2.9.2 Engineering Foreman
• Knowledge of relevant legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals and Energy Act, Basic Conditions of Employment and Environmental Legislation
• In depth knowledge of safety systems and standards
• An in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards (SABS)
• A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining Industry
• Aware of best practices and new technologies relating to Engineering Principles and Processes
• Computer literacy: MS Office and SAP
• Valid driver’s license
• In possession or able to obtain a certificate of fitness

Advantageous:

• A Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Mines & Works)
• Proficiency in Sage & Isometrix
